Important information for employers. From 1 January this year, the requirement to use BHT (Bedriftshelsetjenester) services has been tightened.

• In accordance with Section 3-3 of the Working Environment Act Every employer must enter into a contract with an approved occupational health service (BHT – Bedriftshelsetjenester) if the undertaking is subject to the risk factors set out in Chapter 2 of the Regulation on Administrative Arrangements, or if the undertaking operates in accordance with these activity codes, as specified § 13-1 Regulations on Organisation, Management and Employee Participation or was required to do so by the Norwegian Labour Inspectorate (Norwegian: Arbeidstilsynet).
• § 13-2 of the same Regulation everyobliges the employer to actively seek advice from and use only the services of approved occupational health and safety (OHS) organisations when assessing hazardous working conditions, selecting preventive and risk-reduction measures, and drawing up a plan for the implementation of these measures, as well as when drawing up the company’s health and safety procedures and instructions and by jointly implementing health, environmental and safety measures within the company. All cooperation must be documented and to produce them upon request by the Norwegian Labour Inspectorate.
