This compulsory 40-hour HMS course is aimed at safety representatives, AMU members and others involved in the management and organisation of occupational safety and health issues in the company.
Under the Working Environment Act (Arbeidsmiljøloven), companies with 10 or more employees are required to have a safety representative, or a Working Environment Committee (WEC) if they have 30 or more employees. He/she/they must be properly trained.
This is the minimum amount of training required by law. A shorter course does not legally satisfy the requirements.
Rights and duties of the Safety Representative (SR)/Working Environment Committee (WEC), working environment requirements, risk assessment and methodologies, vernerunde (periodic assessments of the working environment), SJA (pre-work safety analysis), cooperation with management and workers, rights and duties of the employer and the worker, and the practical management of HMS breaches. This course provides a broader understanding of the role of the VO/AMU, cooperation with management, worker representation and systematic work on the working environment.
It is most relevant for the appointment of a new Verneombud or AMU member, for strengthening occupational health and safety management, or for clarifying the systematic way in which HMS works in a company.
